    Our dear mom, Joyce Kyle Esterbrook, 89, aka “Grandma Charlie,” went home peacefully to heaven Friday, Jan. 7, at 4:05 pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 5227 N Bowdoin St, Portland, Ore.

  • Joan Loraine Gilbertz
    Joan was the only child of Charles and Loraine (Donkers) Twitchell and a lifelong resident of the Moreland-Sellwood area.
  • Sr. Jean Marie Van Dyke
    BEAVERTON — After an arduous battle with cancer, St. Mary of Oregon Sister Jean Marie Van Dyke died Dec. 11 at the sisters’ motherhouse. There is a funeral Mass today, Friday, Dec.17, at 4 p.m. at the chapel at the sister’s motherhouse here.

    Paul Robedeau, 76, died of heart failure with family by his side after a lengthy stay in Sacred Heart Hospital at River Bend, Eugene, Oregon.
  • Mary Lenora (Watkins) Stewart
    Mary was born in Tillamook, Oregon to Edward "Ted" Watkins and Hazel Shaw Watkins. The eighth of 10 children, she lost her mother when she was just 7 years old. Her father instilled in her the need to always be able to take care of herself and not rely on anyone. This set Mary’s life trajectory of being fiercely independent. Mary left Tillamook after graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic High School and went on to create her own adventures up and down the west coast.
  • Genevieve Mary Ann Collins
    Genevieve Mary Ann Collins reached her 100th birthday on April 14th of this year. On Thanksgiving evening she celebrated another birthday as she quietly left us to begin her eternal life in heaven.
  • Carolyn June Breen Kolibaba
    Carolyn grew up in Northeast Portland, attending The Madeleine and Beaumont grammar schools, Holy Child Academy, and Marylhurst College. Born to Philip Alexander Breen Jr. and Jessie Evelyn Stark Breen, she lived in a storybook house on Bryce street, where she met dear friends, known as the Bryce Street Girls, who stayed in close touch all their lives.
  • Vlasta Ravlic-Stach
    Vlasta Angela Ravlic-Stach died peacefully in her sleep at her family home of 65 years. Vlasta was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to John and Angelina Ravlic, who were Croatian immigrants. Upon the death of her father, toddler Vlasta and infant sister Nada moved with their mom to Salmon, Idaho, to join Grandmother Antonia, Uncle John and Aunt Catherine on the family farm.
  • Funeral Mass for Vera and Deacon Vern Korchinski
    Deacon Vern Korchinski, 86, died Oct. 20, nine months after his wife, Vera, 89, died Jan. 29. The two had been married 56 years at the time of her death. There will be a funeral Mass Thursday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Preceding Mass, at 12:30 p.m., will be a rosary.

    Gerard J. Barnes, 65, passed away peacefully Oct. 14. A rosary will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, at 11:15 a.m. with a funeral Mass at 12 p.m. at St Ignatius Church in Southeast Portland. Interment will be at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery following the funeral Mass, after which a reception will be held at the Aerie at Eagles Landing Golf course in Happy Valley.

    ASTON, Penn. — Franciscan Sister Mary Carmel Molloy (formerly Sister Carmelette), 81, died in Assisi House Oct. 11, 2021. Services will be held in Assisi House Oct. 19.

    MOUNT ANGEL — Laura Davidson Gooley, 92, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, in her sleep at the Mount Angel Towers where she had resided for many years.

    Holy Names Sister Rita Carey, 71, died Oct. 1, in Salem. There will be a Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at Queen of Peace Church, Salem.

    SALEM — Chuck Lee, 72, longtime principal of Blanchet School and a founder of the Salem-Keizer School District’s Career and Technical Education Center, died at home from complications of multiple system atrophy Sept. 4, surrounded by family.
  • Franciscan Sr. Kathleen Carroll
    ASTON, Penn.—Franciscan Sister Kathleen Veronica Carroll (formerly Sister Mary St. Hubert), 93, died in Assisi House Sept. 23. There was a funeral Mass at Assisi House. Burial is in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston.
