The retired head of Portland-based Oregon Catholic Press has been inducted into the Association of Catholic Publishers Hall of Fame.

John Limb, a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Southeast Portland, worked for OCP for 30 years, 25 as publisher. Since his retirement in 2017, he has continued to advise the company, which publishes sacred music, worship aids and this newspaper.

During his tenure, OCP became the nation’s leading publisher of Catholic worship material.

The association’s citation for Limb and fellow inductees Joe Durepos and Ed DeStefano said the men share “a generosity of spirit that they used to mentor and develop authors and other publishing professionals.”

Limb has been a longtime member of the board of the Association of Catholic Publishers.

He will step down from that role this month, while Wade Wisler, current OCP publisher, is newly elected to the board.

“John has a wealth of experience and knowledge, which he has generously shared in his role as publisher of OCP and member of the ACP board,” said Wisler. “He has worked tirelessly and traveled far and wide to support, guide and mentor people in the industry, and to advance the goals of both ACP and Catholic publishing in general.”
