The May 13 meeting of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women began with prayers and expressions of gratitude for Father Robert Krueger, who died April 28. Until his last illness, Father Krueger had come to ACCW bi-monthly meetings to offer Mass and join members for lunch. Members say they appreciated the priest’s presence and his carefully thought out homilies. Many attended his May 15 funeral at St. Andrew Church in Northeast Portland.

Joan Towner, district president, was able to lift the spirits of those present when she welcomed Father Jack Mosbrucker, who had come to offer Mass.

For Father Mosbrucker and others, it was a first time to visit the renovated St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father Mosbrucker joined ACCW members for lunch in the new parish center. In a talk, he spoke about sharing a love of hiking and nature with his friend Father Kruger. He then explained the high value he placed on the late priest as an educator and inspiring teacher.

Towner closed the meeting with the announcement that Father Mosbrucker had accepted an invitation from the ACCW district and would carry on Father Krueger’s role, offering Mass at district meetings going forward.
