The staff at De La Salle North Catholic High School left the school’s historic Kenton building home on North Fenwick Avenue for the last time June 18.

“There is now an empty space where our school name was once so proudly displayed near the intersection of Lombard and Interstate,” wrote Oscar Leong, president of the school, in an email to the community.

The North Portland building is owned by Portland Public Schools. De La Salle North announced a partnership with St. Charles Parish in Northeast Portland in 2019 after the Kenton building’s lease was set to expire this year. The school will open in its new campus at St. Charles this fall. Until then, the school will temporarily be housed at Portland Public School’s Columbia Annex building until Aug. 13.

“As we move past this chapter in the school’s history, with all the emotion that includes, it is my hope that the Knight Nation community looks towards the future with much optimism for continued growth and boundless success at our state-of-the-art new campus,” wrote Leong.
