To the Sentinel:
Catholics who vote for Barack Obama ought to go to Confession before receiving Communion again.
Unfortunately, we have many Catholics who are Democrats first and Catholics second.
In most elections, we can vote for presidents hoping they will do what we want and if they don’t, we can vote them out four years later.
Such is not the case in this coming election. A greater crisis is present — the naming of one and possibly two or three Supreme Court justices. They are named for life terms on the bench.
John McCain has promised to nominate only pro-life, constitutionalists.
Barack Obama has promised to nominate only pro-abortionists who support the misguided decision of legalized abortion.
Granted, there are many issues to consider in any election — health care, war, the hungry— but how we deal with these issues is debatable.
Abortion is not debatable; it is intrinsically evil.
Catholics cannot in good conscience vote for anyone who supports abortion.
