Dr. George Brennan

EUGENE — Dr. George Brennan, a member of St. Mary Church for more than 55 years, died July 24. He was 95.

Dr. Brennan was born April 8, 1919 in Hudson, Mich. After graduating from high school in 1937, he entered the Navy in 1940 and was discharged in 1945. He married Marjory Jean Nye. He studied optometry at the Northern Illinois College of Optometry, graduating in 1949. After college, he moved to Portland and then Eugene. For more than 30 years, he worked in pharmaceutical sales, retiring in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981. He is survived by his six children, Joan Ac, Mary (James) Evonuk, Barbara Brennan, Margaret Stevenson, Stephen (Diane) Brennan, Patrick (Maisoun) Brennan; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, starting with a rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas More Newman Center in Eugene. Father Francis Goode, O.P., is the celebrant. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Thomas More Newman Center at 1850 Emerald St, Eugene, OR 97403.
