John Nelson died July 7. He was 67.
Mr. Nelson was born April 5, 1947, in Asheville, N.C., to Marie and George Nelson. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Portland in 1969. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force while stationed at McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando, Fla. He was a Vietnam veteran. In 1972, he began working for Pacific NW Bell, which later became AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He retired as an account executive in 2000.
He is survived by his wife Susan; children; Laura (Ed) Ramsey and Christopher Nelson, both of Redmond, Wash.; siblings, George (Twyla) Nelson, Albany, Sister Helen Nelson, Waterloo, Iowa, Robert (Wendy) Nelson, Vancouver, Wash., Ann (Michael) Erikson, Redwood City, Calif., Gene (Krisanne) Nelson, Chico, Calif., Lisa (Harvey) Clark, Canby; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated at Christ the King Parish in Milwaukie.
