Jennifer Vranizan

SHERWOOD — Jennifer Marie Vranizan, a member of St. Francis Parish here, died June 20 of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was 48.

Mrs. Vranizan was born Oct. 9, 1965, in Lincoln, Neb.After Nebraska, her family moved to Illinois, Iowa and finally settled in Utah, where she graduated from Granger High School in 1983. After a year of junior college, she entered the workforce and began a career in the financial services industry. She lived in Denver and Santa Barbara, Calif., before moving to Portland in 1991. She married Tim Vranizan in 1996. She put her career on hold to raise her children.

Active at St. Francis Parish and School, she led Vacation Bible School and taught religious education. She also served as the director of The Friar Trot 5k/10k run, a fundraising run for St. Francis School.

In 2007, she joined John Hancock Financial Services as a senior sale coordinator for the Northwest. Her career was again put on hold in 2011, when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Emiline Ann Vranizan; and stepfather, James McMillan.

She is survived by husband, Tim; children, Abby, Henry and Lily Ann; mother, Mary Rotter; father and stepmother, Darvin and Patricia Jemming; siblings, Kathy Corkery, James Jemming, Teresa Jemming Hartman, Jodie Palmer and Jonny Jemming; father-in-law, Ralph Vranizan; sisters-in-law, Helena Vranizan Stringer and Anne-Marie Kiriazis; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Church.
