Sister Elizabeth Duong Thi Thuoc, a member of the Adorers of the Holy Cross women's Religious order, died June 18. She was 62.
Sister Elizabeth was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Ha Nam Ninh, Vietnam. Her first profession of vows as in 1975 in Le Van Sy Convent, Sai Gon, Vietnam. Her perpetual profession of vows was in 1981 at the Mother House of Tan Thanh, Bao Lac, Lam Dong, Vietnam. She moved to Portland from Australia in 2000, serving at Our Lady of Lavang in faith formation. She celebrated her silver jubilee that same year.
"She was a very talented listener," said Adorer of the Holy Cross Sister Kim Chi Bui, director of religious education at All Saints Parish in Northeast Portland. "She was a very loving person who really cared for others and was always willing to help those around her. She was a treasure in our community."
Visitations will be held at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson St., on Thursday, June 19, and Friday, June 20, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lavang Parish in Northeast Portland at 6 p.m., on Thursday, June 19 and Friday, June 20. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 21, at Our Lady of Lavang.
