Charles Santos

GRANTS PASS — Charles Santos, a member of St. Anne Parish here, died June 9. He was 87.

Mr. Santos was born Jan. 12, 1927, in New Bedford, Mass. He served in the Army during World War II, where he was honorably discharged Private First Class. After that he became a musician, sang with the Del Mar Trio, played guitar and the harmonica, and became a commercial pilot. He then moved to California and married Dorothy Rose Barroso in 1956.

He was degreed in horticulture, business management, and criminal law and retired as records commander with the Newark Police Department in California. They moved to Oregon 25 years ago. He was a Knight of Columbus, and a member of the VFW Post # 4116 in Rogue River in addition to his many other attributes. He both St. Anne’s Catholic Church and Our Lady of the River.

He is survived by his children, Dennis, Toni Marie and Tracy Mae, Martin, Carla, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church, in Grants Pass.
