Walter Stott

Walter Joseph Stott, a member of All Saints and St. Clare parishes, died June 7. He was 99.

Mr. Stott was born April 3, 1915, in Portland to Walter and Josephine Stott. He graduated from the University of Portland in 1937 and then joined the faculty there to teach chemistry for 15 years. In 1943, he married Rellalee Gray. During World War II, he worked at the Union Carbide plant in Mead, Washington, which produced magnesium for military aircraft construction. In 1954 he began a career in the industrial water treatment business. He co-founded Water Treatment Corporation of America, which later became Mogul Corporation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rellalee, and his son, James Stott. He is survived by Caribbean, Europe, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Caudell; his sons, Peter Stott, John Stott, and Thomas Stott; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Mass was celebrated at the chapel at Mary’s Woods. Memorial donations can be made to The Holy Names Sisters Foundation, Attention: Mary's Woods Resident Fund, P.O. Box 411, Marylhurst, Oregon 97036.
