James Moran Sr. died March 1. He was 79.
Mr. Moran was born July 31, 1934, in Portland, to Louis and Effie Moran. He grew up in Northeast Portland and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952 and the University of Notre Dame in 1956. He married Marianne Trapp in 1956. After serving in the Army, he returned to Portland and started working for the family business, Moran Oil. Marianne died in 1981, and he married Suzanne Nimmo Gaittens in 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; daughters, Kathleen Bradach, Dr. Molly Moran-Yandle, Eileen Rilatt, Mary Pat Poteet, Laura Luthi and Sheila Connelly; sons, James Carr Moran Jr., Joseph Trapp Moran, John Moran and James Gaittens; 26 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 8, at The Madeleine, followed by a celebration of life.
