Caryl Jean MacMillan died Feb. 25. She was 78.
Mrs. MacMillan was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Portland to Marvin and Helen Coffey. She graduated from Franklin High School at age 16 and enrolled at Marylhurst College. She transferred to Oregon State College in Corvallis where she became a Catholic. She began her career as a teacher at Faubion Elementary in Northeast Portland and married Gordon MacMillan in 1960. They moved to South Carolina, and returned to Portland in 1969. She returned to work as a substitute teacher, followed by a stint as a real estate agent, and finally took a job as an executive assistant at Tektronix, from which she retired in 1996.
She is survived by her husband Gordon; sons, Steve (Chris) and Kent (Jackie); and seven grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at Holy Trinity Church in Beaverton. Private interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland.
