Mildred Leayodea Napolillo Gabriel died Dec. 7. She was 97.
Mrs. Gabriel was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Rivesville, W.Va. She graduated with a teaching degree from Fairmont State Teachers College in West Virginia in 1933 and began a long career teaching elementary education. She raised her family and taught in Fairmont, where she was active in the Immaculate Conception Church. After retirement, she moved to Portland where she was a part of Holy Trinity Church in Beaverton.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Vincent, in 1970. She is survived by her son, James Gabriel (Mary Ann); daughters, Donna Gabriel and Mary Ann McHenry (Paul); six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, all of Portland; and sister, Antoinette Konya, Miami, Fla.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Holy Trinity Church in Beaverton. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
