Helen Mele

Helen Mele,  a member of Holy Redeemer Parish, died Nov. 7. She was 90.

Mrs. Mele was born June 20, 1923, in Burns to Louis Sweistris and Helen Yomant. She attended St. Francis Academy in Baker, and graduated from Baker Nursing School in 1942 with an associate Degree in nursing. She married Henry Mele in Walla Walla, Wash., in 1947. She worked as a surgical nurse for 37 years at St. Vincent Hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Hank; her parents; and her siblings, Anna O'Tool and Frances, and Charles and Alphonse Sweistris. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Michael) King, Cornelius; sister Ruth Eivers, Portland; and many nieces and nephews.

A service was held Nov. 13.
