Lenore “Lee” Gallet died peacefully of natural causes on Nov 21. She was born in Clinton, Iowa on July 21, 1920, spent most of her life in Chicago, and moved to Santa Cruz, California after the death of her husband, Ernie, in 1984. She moved to Portland in 2004.
She is survived by her children, Richard and Joan (Sister Jeremy), her grandchildren, Molly and Danielle, and her great grandchild, Jordyn. She has two surviving sisters, Mary Barr and Gerry Dvorak.
Music was an important part of her life and she was an accomplished pianist as well as an excellent singer. In her long and full life Lee held a variety of interesting and stimulating positions including professional model, executive assistant to Carol Fox at Chicago’s Lyric Opera, and executive secretary for Chicago’s Commissioner of Aviation, both at O’Hare Field and in City Hall.
We will miss her wonderful sense of humor, deep spirituality, and joyful spirit.
There will be a wake service for Lenore Gallet at 3 p.m. on Sunday at St. Anthony Church (3700 SE 79th Ave., Portland) preceded by a viewing. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Anthony.
