Chris Robert Marthaller died Oct. 6. He was 88.
Mr. Marthaller was born April 12, 1925, in Portland and educated at Oregon City High School, the University of Oregon and Northwestern School of Law. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1952, he was awarded his J.D., and he began a 34-year career at Farmers Insurance. He married Jean Norton, and they shared 61 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Rogers; and daughter, Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Jean; siblings, Katherine Harrington, Lorraine Eaton and John; children, William (Janey), James, Brian, Susan, Lissa (Steve) Allen and Jill (Rick) Morelli; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
