SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. — Maryknoll Sister Mary Elizabeth Driscoll died Oct. 2. She was 90.
Born on July 26, 1923, in Portland, to Elcena Greene Driscoll and William Driscoll, she graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1941, and attended Marylhurst College in 1942. She entered Maryknoll in 1943, receiving the name Sister M. Edmund Damien, and made her final vows in 1949.
She graduated from Maryknoll Teachers College, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1955. In 1964, she received a master’s in theology at Providence College, R.I. From 1969 – ‘79 she attended University of Pacific Coast, Calif.
She served as an educator in Hawaii, New York, Massachusetts and Kentucky.
A service was held at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining, N.Y.
