William Anthony Crocker Sr. died Aug. 25. He was 90.
Mr. Crocker was born in Portland. He served with the 41st Infantry Division in World War II, where he served as squad leader. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Portland. In 1949, he married Odily Mendoza. He worked as a high school English teacher prior to becoming the education supervisor at the Oregon State Penitentiary, a post he held for 27 years. Odily preceded him in death in 1989. In 1993, he married Elizabeth Crocker.
He is survived by his wife; children William (Charlene) Crocker Jr., John (Lynette) Crocker, James (Terry) Crocker, Karla (Brad) Black and Heidi (Jason) Pennycock; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Aug. 29, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Salem.
