Dr. Gerald Robert Schwarz died July 24. He was 76.
Dr. Schwarz was born July 19, 1937, in Seattle, Wash., to Ernest and Myrtle Schwarz. He was raised in Lake Oswego and attended Lake Oswego High School. At the University of Oregon he studied pre-med. He pursued his M.D. at Washington University in St. Louis and received urology training at the University of New Mexico. Before he joined his practice, Urologic Consultants at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, he served as a major and flight surgeon in the USAF. He spent two years at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany where he met his wife Nancy.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy; brothers, Ronald Schwarz (Nancy), Gold Beach, and Ernest Schwarz Jr. (Linda), Lake Oswego; son, Tim Schwarz (Julie), Nashville; daughter, Amy Colville; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at St. Pius X Church. Memorial donations can be made to Providence Cancer Center or SCID Angels for Life.
