Cleora Catherine Mersdorf died July 18. She was 93.
Mrs. Mersdorf was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Springfield to John and Catherine Smith. She attended St. Mary High School and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1941. She married Frank Mersdorf in 1941.
She taught in the 4J School District for 18 years. She helped start one of Eugene's first alternative schools: The Corridor School at Silver Lea. She was active her entire life in St. Mary Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1990, grandson Buddy Waldron in 1993, and sister Roine Dillingham in 2012. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Corrinn and Harvey Waldron III, Bellevue, Wash.; Sue Ellen and Ray Hallett, Veneta; Lola Lee and Mike Johnson, Gresham; six granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and sister Jeannette Forsman, Eugene.
A Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Church in Eugene. Memorial donations can be made to Marist High School, St. Vincent De Paul or Hospice of Sacred Heart.
