Martin Conlin

Martin Conlin, a longtime member of St. John Fisher Parish, died June 19. He was 90.

Mr. Conlin was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Scranton, Pa., to Harry Conlin and Sarah (Sadie) Gill Conlin. He graduated from McMinnville High School. He started his studies at the University of Oregon, but took a break to serve in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he completed his studies at UCLA and the University of Oregon and then moved to Klamath Falls to work at Burness Motors. In Klamath Falls, married Barbara Lavenik. He worked for many years with Columbia Plywood, which brought him and his family to Portland in 1969. He finished his career as controller for Oregon Sandblasting where he worked for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Williams; and wife Barbara, in 2005. He is survived by his sons, David, Vancouver, B.C., and Jim (Stacey), Beaverton; daughters, Laurie and partner, Sally Kinion; Marty Ann Cripe and husband, Bob, and Jan Linnertz. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John Fisher Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Creekside Village Activity Program.
