Irene Sark died May 11. She was 92.
Mrs. Sark was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Scranton, Penn., to John and Teofila Paterak. She took a job as a nanny with a family in New York at age 11, moving on next to the Old Spice Factory. She married John Sark, and they settled in Portland. She worked as a hotel maid and as a private cleaner, and after her husband died she worked as a housekeeper for several Catholic priests and churches. At age 89, she retired as housekeeper for St. Rita Church.
She is survived by her sisters Helen Guarno and Genevieve Jacob; a niece; grandniece; and a great-grandnephew.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 23, at St. Rita Church.
