MILWAUKIE — Julia Ann DeBellis died at Oatfield Estates Care Home here Feb. 27, of causes related to age. She was 92.
Mrs. DeBellis was born Julia Ann Boroski, July 18, 1920, in Los Angeles to John and Agatha Boroski. She was raised in North Portland, graduating from Blessed Sacrament School in 1934 and Immaculata Academy in 1938. She married Rocco “Rocky” DeBellis in 1940. The couple relocated to Lake Oswego in 1948 where they raised three children. An active parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego for more than 60 years, she was a member of the Altar Society, Parents Club, Christ Child Society and worked as a parish office volunteer. She also volunteered for 20 years at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center and was a member of the Lake Oswego Lions Club. She volunteered at her local election committee precinct until mail ballots were adopted in Oregon. She worked for 22 years at Meier & Frank Department store in downtown Portland, riding Tri-Met to work every day. She retired in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Michael, Bellevue, Wash.; Vito, West Linn; daughter, Christine Scotty, Lake Oswego; sister, Rosemary Taylor, Lake Oswego; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego, Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
