Oscar (Karo) Anaya Ontiveros died Jan. 5. He was 97.
Mr. Ontiveros was born June 9, 1915, in Torreón, Coahuila, México. He attended Amado Nervo School and graduated in 1930. At 16, he began his banking career with Banco de México, México's Federal Reserve. In 1939, he married Evangelina Güereca. In 1948, the family moved immigrated to the United States to live in Los Angeles, where he pursued his electrical engineering degree. He worked for a variety of jobs before he started working in 1951 as a sheet metal worker, retiring in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Rosalinda (John); two grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister Hermilia Anaya Benavides; cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Jude Church in Eugene.
