Aleck Prihar died Jan. 17. He was 92.
Mr. Prihar was born Sept. 5, 1920, to George and Maria Prihar in Moorhead, Minn. He graduated from Moorhead High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1943, in Alameda Calif., he married Mary Edra. They moved to Portland and he graduated from University of Portland in 1949. He was called up to the Korean War and decided to join the Air Force and make military service his career. He retired after 23 years. He then worked as a finance manager for the City of Portland for 10 years before retiring for a second time.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2008. He is survived by his children, Doody (Daryl) Boliba and Bird (Steve) Marglowski; sister, Rose Prihar; sister-in-law, Valeria Prior; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Pius X Church, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m., and a reception in the Community Center. Memorial donations can be made to University of Portland, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd., Portland, OR.
