Virginia Carson

Virginia Kip Carson died Jan. 5. She was 103.

Mrs. Carson was born April 12, 1909, in New York City to May Beaven and Blakeman Quintard Meyer. She spent three years at the French Music School for Americans in Fontainebleau studying piano, returning home at 18 to start a career teaching piano lessons. She married George Earl Carson and moved to the West Coast in 1955. In 1996, she moved to Portland.

She is survived by two daughters, Laurie Carson Griff (Gary), Portland; and Virginia Kip Farrell (Michael), New Canaan, Conn.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Thomas More Church. Memorial donations can be made to St. Thomas More Church music program, c/o Lourdene Haley.
