Kenneth Heuvel, a member of Ascension Church, died Sept. 29. He was 84.
Mr. Heuvel was born June 19, 1928. He was raised in Welches and Portland and graduated from Central Catholic High School and the University of Portland. As a young man, he worked as a greenskeeper at Mount Hood Golf Course, which his father owned. In 1948, he married Pat Leahey, who preceded him in death last November. He was the owner of a number of service stations and auto repair shops, and was one of the founders of the Oregon Gasoline Dealers Association. He also began developing commercial real estate, which he continued into retirement.
He is survived by his children, Dan (Ann) Heuvel, Diane (Clint) Moshofsky and Paul (Kate) Heuvel; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Delores Heuvel.
A service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 1535 NE 17th Ave. in Portland. Memorial contributions can be made to the Macdonald Center, 605 NW Couch, Portland, OR 97209.
