Wilmer Pfeifer died April 19. He was 82.
He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Hays, Kansas. In 1938, he and his family moved to Colorado, with another move in the early 2940s to Portland, eventually settling in Gresham. In 1944 at age 15, he joined the United Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Ship Builders and Helpers of America, working as a welder in the Portland shipyards. He attended Benson Technical High School, and served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Carol McReynolds in 1955. He worked in sales, management and training for companies that sold industrial, medical and specialty gases and welding supplies, retiring in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and brother, Elmer. He is survived by three children, Rick Pfeifer, Mary Howell, Erin Bruzda; seven grandchildren; brother, Don Pfeifer; and sisters, Lillian Dollowitch and Sylvia Wallis.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, May 4, St. Henry Church in Gresham.
