Frederic Winter Jr.

Frederic Victor Winter Jr. died April 3. He was 83.

Mr. Winter was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Chicago. He attended Lane Technical High School. He later attended the University of Detroit and Wayne State University where he studied marketing and criminal justice. He served in the Navy during World War II, and married Florence Ann in 1951. He worked as a sales engineer for more than 40 years. In 1979, he and his wife co-founded Mentally Ill Need Direction, or M.I.N.D., which later became the Clackamas County Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Florence passed away in December 2006. In November 2007, he married Judy Redler.

He had seven children: Lydia, Virginia, Patricia, Frederic III, Gloria, Cynthia and Carl; three stepsons, Andy, Michael and Larry; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at St. Philip Benizi Church in Oregon City, preceded by a rosary at 10:30 a.m.
