Here are some television program notes for the week of Dec. 1 with their TV Parental Guidelines ratings if available. They have not been reviewed and therefore are not necessarily recommended by Catholic News Service.

Sunday, Dec. 1, 9-10 p.m. EST (EWTN) "Franciscan University Presents: Lumen Fidei and the Life of Faith." Host Michael Hernon and theology professors Regis Martin and Scott Hahn welcome Franciscan Father Sean Sheridan, president of Franciscan University of Steubenville, to discuss the first encyclical by Pope Francis, "Lumen Fidei," "The Light of Faith." (TV-G -- general audience).

Sunday, Dec. 1, 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. EST (check local listings) (PBS) "Pavarotti: A Voice for the Ages." A profile of famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007). Part of the series "Great Performances."

Monday, Dec. 2, 8-9 p.m. EST (ABC) "A Charlie Brown Christmas." In this digitally remastered 1965 special, Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees everywhere during the Christmas season. Lucy suggests he become director of the school Christmas pageant and Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, Charlie Brown needs Linus' help to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is (TV-G -- general audience).

Wednesday, Dec. 4, 8-9:30 p.m. EST (check local listings) (PBS) "Libera: Angels Sing Christmas in Ireland." This holiday-themed special showcases the U.K.-based boy choir Libera's recent tour of Ireland.

Thursday, Dec. 5, 10-11 p.m. EST (EWTN) "Bilbo's Journey: A Catholic Travel Guide to 'The Hobbit.'" A look at the Catholic themes underlying J. R. R. Tolkien's classic 1937 novel (TV-G -- general audience).

Friday, Dec. 6, 8-8:30 p.m. EST (CBS) "Frosty the Snowman." This animated holiday favorite, first broadcast in 1969 and narrated by Jimmy Durante, also includes the voices of Jackie Vernon as Frosty and Billy De Wolfe as Professor Hinkle.
