Pianist, soloist to perform

Pianist John Wustman will join University of Portland faculty member Nicole Leupp Hanig in performing Franz Schubert’s masterwork song cycle, “Winterreise.” The concert is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7 in Buckley Center Auditorium on campus.

First published in 1828, the set of 24 songs have text by German Romantic poet Wilhelm Müller.

Wustman's career highlights include a series of televised recitals with Pavarotti. Hanig has appeared as a soloist with the Jussi Björling Festival in Sweden, the Maggio Musicale Festival in Italy and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. Prior to her appointment as assistant professor of music at the University of Portland, she served on the voice and opera faculty at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.
