All Saints Church hosts renowned tenor and Benedictine monk in a performance of Schubert’s “Winter’s Journey.”
Brother Aelred Woodard and pianist Art Peterson offer the Romantic-era song cycle in an English translation at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4.
Brother Aelred recently won the Metropolitan Opera District auditions in Seattle. He could have continued his lifelong pursuit of performance, but chose instead to focus on the monastic practice Ora et Labora, or “to work and pray.” Currently he is choirmaster of the Abbey and teaches religious studies and music at St. Martin’s University in Lacey, Wash. Peterson performs throughout the Northwest and teaches theory, piano, organ, harpsichord, and composition at St. Martin’s University.
General admission tickets are available at the door for $10. The church is at 3847 NE Glisan St.
