BEAVERTON — A local girl returns as Holy Trinity Parish hosts a concert of sacred music for the Easter season at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13.
Soprano Janet Marie Chvatal, who grew up in Beaverton and attended Holy Trinity School, is now living and performing in Europe. But she's back to sing a benefit as part of the quartet Coram Deo ("In God's Presence"). The concert is titled "Music in the Stillness."
Other members of Coram Deo are German Baritone Marc Gremm, American violinist Wendy Goodwin and American pianist and vocalist Jeff Johnson. Coram Deo offers Celtic, a classical and contemporary repertoire of sacred songs and instrumental compositions meant to create a contemplative space of sound and quiet before God.
Chvatal and Gremm have starred together in Vienna and Stuttgart productions of Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and the German musical Ludwig, in which they played Empress Elisabeth and King Ludwig.
Coram Deo's CD, "Antiphon," was recorded in Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria.
Some of the concert's proceeds go to Holy Trinity Parish. The church is located at 13715 SW Walker Road.
Chvatal is one of five sisters who attended Holy Trinity while their mother was choir director at the church.
