GRANTS PASS — With the swipe of a tractor scoop, demolition began July 17 on the church building at St. Anne Parish here.
“As we tear down the current church structure we honor and remember all those who built this church which has been the place of so many life events. Many have celebrated baptisms, weddings, and funerals under this roof,” Father William Holtzinger, pastor at the parish, said in a statement to the press.
Meagan Montanari searched for something. Something to fulfill her. Something to make her happy. And two years ago she found it: the Eucharist and the Catholic Church. Still, her body displays the scars from 15 years spent searching.
“They’re reminders,” she says. “Because I have to remind myself that, ‘Yeah, you were homeless, you were walking into the methadone clinic every morning.’ It was bad.”
YAMHILL — As in parishes throughout the archdiocese, St. John Parish here celebrated confirmations and first Communions in the spring. Astoria Culver, Leo Murray, Tony Fer and Lacy Lazott received first Communion. Mariana Alvarez, Jose Medina, Albert Medina and Emma Prine were confirmed in May by Archbishop John Vlazny.
