Anyone who has walked all or part of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, or who plans to do the pilgrimage in the future, is invited to receive a blessing at the third annual celebration of the Feast Day of St. James Mass at 5:30 p.m., Friday, July 25.

Spire getting spruced up
Workers are power-washing the 210-foot spire of St. John the Baptist Church in Milwaukie in preparation of re-finishing the entire roof and bringing it back to its original gleam. The space-age spire is a landmark in the area.

Foundation awards $300,000 to Salem Catholic schools
The Salem Catholic Schools Foundation has awarded $318,000 in grants. Kevin Mannix, foundation president, mailed and or hand-delivered checks to St. Joseph, St. Vincent de Paul, Queen of Peace and Blanchet Catholic.

Ashland Catholics find unity, fellowship in ACTS retreats
For many years, Carolina Senestraro said, she went to Mass at Our Lady of the Mountain Parish and felt like she was surrounded by acquaintances. Now that she and more than 100 other parishioners have gone on ACTS retreats, Senestraro said her church community feels more like an extended family, with people lingering on Sundays long after coffee and donuts is scheduled to end.

Jesuit auction raises $780,000
The annual auction supporting Jesuit High School has raised $780,000. Rose Kilpatrick and Karen Petroff chaired the event, which drew 555 guests. Parent volunteers worked for days beforehand to ready the event.

Coastal church observes 65th anniversary
St. Augustine Parish observed the 65th anniversary of its dedication May 15. The building, a former Camp Adair chapel, was transported in 1948 from the Army training post north of Corvallis, then reconstructed on its current site.

Notre Dame celebrates Portland Catholic schools
During the University of Notre Dame’s “Fighting for Our Children's Future” national bus tour, the big blue and gold vehicle, decorated with photos of children and the names of every Catholic school in the country, traveled 28,000 miles and went to 50 cities to highlight the good work being done in Catholic education.
