MILWAUKIE — La Salle Prep senior Jacob Bieker from Happy Valley received University of Oregon’s most prestigious and generous undergraduate scholarship, valued at more than $110,000 over four years, for the fall of 2014.
University representatives visited La Salle last month to present the honor. The Oregon Duck mascot was on hand to celebrate Bieker’s success along with La Salle teachers, students, family members and the Falcon mascot.
Bieker is among only five incoming freshmen to receive the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship which covers UO tuition, room, and board for four years of undergraduate study. As a Stamps Scholar, Bieker will also benefit from up to $12,000 in enrichment funds to be used over four years to pursue study abroad, unpaid internships, or other experiences.
Bieker will be admitted to Oregon's Robert D. Clark Honors College. He was eligible for the scholarship as an incoming freshman and Oregon resident graduating from an Oregon high school. He was required to have a minimum 3.85 cumulative high school grade point average and a minimum 1240 combined math and critical reading SAT score or 28 ACT composite score. He was also selected for leadership, perseverance, service, and innovation.
