BEAVERTON — The board at Valley Catholic School has received the 2014 Outstanding Board Award from the National Catholic Educational Association.
The board was recognized for dedication and commitment to excellence during a ceremony at the NCEA annual convention last month in Pittsburgh.
The board took on constructing a new elementary and middle school building and saw to it that the work was properly financed and that all faculty needs were met. The board purchased 150 iPads for distribution to teachers and use in classrooms of all grade levels and made a point of prioritizing financial aid to families in need when they reorganized the school’s operating budget.
Robert Mizia, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Portland, said, “Bravo, Valley Catholic School Board, for your distinct recognition as an outstanding and ‘heavy-lifting’ board. With this distinguished NCEA award, all Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Portland share in your generous dedication, great accomplishments, and joy in the Church’s mission of Catholic education.”
