Learning about presidents and bears

TIGARD — First graders at St. Anthony School here learned a lot about President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln earlier this year. They read books and magazine articles and then wrote facts about the two historical figures. 

First graders have also been studying bears. They watched a “bear cam” hidden in a bear’s den in the wild. The children observed the bear for several days, looking at a bear’s habitat and how it interacts with its environment.
