'Compassion' is retreat theme

SALEM — On Saturday, March 15, Queen of Peace Parish hosts a women’s retreat, themed “Compassion, a very important virtue in today’s world.”

Retreat leader, Benedictine Sister Dorothy Jean Beyer, will share teachings on compassion and how it can be cultivated, as well as Pope Francis’ thoughts on compassion and mercy. The retreat includes prayer, reflection and discussion.

Sister Dorothy is the coordinator of the ministry to the sick and homebound at St. Mary Church in Mount Angel. She celebrated her 50th year as a Benedictine sister in 2013 and has been prioress of her community for 16 years.
