University of Portland President Holy Cross Father William Beauchamp has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2013- ’14 academic year.
Father Beauchamp has served at the university for 11 years, spending 10 of those years as president. Formerly a professor of business and law and executive vice president at the University of Notre Dame, Father Beauchamp has two master’s degrees and served previously as chief financial officer of the Indiana Prov- ince of the Congregation of Holy Cross. He was ordained in 1982.
“My experience here at UP has been nothing short of extraordinary and I will always cherish my time here on the bluff,” he wrote in an announcement letter. “It has been my good fortune and blessing to work with an in- credible group of faculty and staff, and to share my time here with wonderfully gifted and talented students.”
During his time at UP, Father Beauchamp has overseen the renovation and construction of eight new buildings on campus; and is currently managing the RISE Campaign, one of the largest fundraising campaigns ever at a private school in the Pacific Northwest.
