St. Thomas More, Southwest Portland
Amy Jefferis began July 1 as new principal. She was most recently vice principal at St. Ignatius School in Southeast Portland, where she also taught for six years. Prior to that, she was a mathematics teacher and department head at Neil Armstrong Middle School in Forest Grove.
Jefferis graduated from Western Oregon University, received a masters of liberal arts studies from Lewis and Clark College and has earned licensure from Portland State University and Concordia University.
"She brings tremendous leadership, great energy and a passion for education that will enhance the experience for our entire school community," says Father Rick Sirianni, pastor of St. Thomas More Parish. "She will, no doubt, help us to deliver on our mission of maximizing the spiritual and educational development of the whole child."
Jefferis, who grew up in Gresham, is just back from two years in Stuttgart, Germany, where she lived with her family while her husband managed an overseas assignment for his employer. She and her husband, Ryan, will now be living with their two daughters in Lake Oswego.
Jefferis replaces Frank Murray, who retired in June after 12 years as principal.
