Retired priest publishes book of dramas

HEPPNER — Father Gerry Condon, retired pastor of St. Patrick Parish, published a book of dramas he wrote over the past few years.

The book, titled Seven Religious Dramas, includes plays about St. Patrick, St. Brigit, St. Columcille, St. Columbanus, St. Oliver Plunkett, From Cenacle to Calvary (the Passion of the Lord), and Emigration to Happiness.

Every year at the parish St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Father Condon would write, produce and direct one of these plays for the Heppner Catholic community.

Because the plays are royalty-free, church groups anywhere can easily and inexpensively reproduce the dramas.

Condon, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, melds fact and fiction about early Christianity, along with the rigors of monastic life in Ireland, in the dramas. He chose the lives of five Irish saints to exhibit the faith of Irish immigrants.

The book is available at Amazon.
