UP frosh serve in city
A group of 125 incoming University of Portland freshman arrive to school early to volunteer time and energy throughout the city last month. They worked at 12 locations, spending their nights on the floor at nearby Holy Cross School. Workshops on social justice and time for reflection are included in the Service Plunge.
Sites included Peninsula School, Assumption Village assisted living center, The ReBuilding Center, Friends of Trees and a local playground.
The service plunge is an annual offering that enables freshman students to immediately immerse themselves into service, part of the university’s mission.
