Free dress fridays a success

TIGARD — The St. Anthony School Student Council sponsored their third annual “Free Dress Fridays in May” to raise funds for the new multi-purpose community center. Students had the option to bring in $1 each Friday in May for free dress (no uniforms). This year the Student Council’s goal was to raise $1,000 to purchase a 16-channel Mackie mixer for the new stage in the center. The mixer is used to control microphones, speakers and sound for plays, concerts and programs. A unique feature of the mixer is its use of an iPad as the remote control.

At the school’s year end assembly, campaign coordinator Anne Robinson was presented a check for $1,000 by Student Council officer Ryan Strand. R&H Construction recently began work on the site with completion expected the spring of 2014. The center will feature a new kitchen/school cafeteria, assembly hall, stage, lobby, gathering space and meeting rooms.
