Portland-based Northwest Evaluation Association has given the University of Portland School of Education a $1.5 million grant for education research.
Researchers will study local schools to find what works and what doesn't.
“School districts are inundated with initiatives from numerous sources, but rarely have the time or expertise to examine what is helping kids learn, and how much," says Matt Chapman, CEO of the association.
The partnership aims to enhance both public and private schools. Early projects will focus on implementing national Common Core Standards, learning outcomes, and equity.
Students enrolled in UP's School of Education each year serve more than 140,000 hours in schools in the local community.
