Jared Fogle, the man who lost weight eating Subway sandwiches and testifies about it on commercials, was in Portland for the American Heart Association’s Heart and Stroke Walk in mid-May. Before the walk, he stopped by St. John Fisher School in Southwest Portland to talk to the 230 students about healthy eating and exercise.
St. John Fisher students showed Fogle their jump rope prowess. They made their school one of the top fundraisers in Oregon as part of the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart Program.
Fogle has been a Subway spokesman for 15 years. He walks every day. Fogle was a 425-pound student at Indiana University in March 1998 when he began eating the chain's low fat sandwiches and exercising. He lost 245 pounds.
