Eighth-graders at St. Clare School will soon join the ranks of fellow alumni at a special graduation ceremony set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, in the church. It’s both an exciting and bittersweet time as students look forward to meeting new friends and challenges, and say goodbye to friends, teachers and classrooms they’ve come to know over the years.
Cathy Kollars, eighth grade teacher, recently asked her class to reflect on their experiences at St. Clare School. Following is a composite of their observations about their time together:
Thank you, St. Clare teachers — for pushing me to learn the work ethic needed for high school; always being there when I need help with my homework; showing me how to be a good sport and supporting my teammates; always helping me out when I am always confused in science; pushing me in all areas: physically, mentally, spiritually, and academically so that I will succeed in future education.
I will miss — the welcoming community, because I could be myself; being with my second family every day; our class unity and how close we all were; my little buddy; coming here in the third grade and being loved all the way to the end; all of my classmates as we move on to high school and to our separate lives.
Staff thanked eighth graders for what they have given over the years.
"You have enriched our lives, and we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors," a staff statement said. "We will miss you all."
