Eighth graders from Archbishop Howard School at St. Rose are making an artful exit. The school is enjoying its first dedicated art room, which gives students an hour of art each week with Sue Beede, artist in residence.
The class of 2013 has worked with clay, paints, papier-mache and drawing pens. Lessons have included elements of art and principles of design. The creativity of each student gets honored.
This year marks the school’s centennial. Along with weekly art lessons, the class of 2013 will soon begin designing and painting a mural in the school commemorating the milestone The mural will be unveiled at a 100th birthday party scheduled for June 1.
