STAYTON — St. Mary School here is holding an open house 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 1066 N. 6th Ave. in Stayton. Families can see the pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school, meet teachers, talk with parents, learn about the music and physical education programs, and find out about tuition assistance.

St. Mary currently has 215 students.

“The smaller student to teacher ratio is a big plus for our families,” says Rick Schindler, the principal. “We are excited to welcome the community and prospective families who would like to explore the school and find out more about it. I think they’ll find that this is a very friendly environment. We welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds.”

St. Mary is known for top academics, sports and electives, and its budding music and performing arts programs.

“The addition of our new middle school choir along with our general music and drama programs has rounded out amazing performing and fine arts offerings lead by our music and drama teachers. Students have flocked to the opportunities and have blown us away with their performances and rising star talents,” says Schindler.

Schindler will be available to answer questions on tuition and the multiple child discount program. With the consolidation of the PK-12th grade Catholic school system in Stayton, St. Mary Catholic School and Regis High School have a combined, multiple child discount program for families whose kids are concurrently enrolled in the system. In addition, tuition assistance is available for families who meet certain qualifications. Families who attend the open house will be able to enroll their children for the 2013-14 academic year.
